Polish watchmaker Patek Antoni began making watches in 1839 in Geneva with his Polish counterpart Franciszek Czapek migrants. They separated in 1844, and joined in 1845 by Patek Philippe to the French watchmaker Adrien, key inventor of the spiral mechanism. Patek Philippe & Co was founded in 1851.
Patek Philippe made their first wristwatch in 1868. They pioneered the perpetual calendar in a split second hand, chronograph and minute repeater in watches.
Like other Swiss manufacturers, the company mainly produces mechanical movements of the variety of automatic and manual wind, but has produced quartz watches in the past, and a digital wristwatch, ref. 3414. PP is remarkable for its own clock components.
Patek Philippe watches are recorded by the high prices at auctions around the world. Much of the demand for copies of the same shaft guide Patek Philippe, because they are often buying price competition in the market to add a collection of Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva.
In 2010, the company produced 40 000 bells. [2]
The company was owned by the Stern family owned since 1932, and since the end of 2000 led by Philippe Stern, and his son Thierry Stern
